A new sensation that Bhangra has never experienced before is set to hit the music industry, by having the most unique and recognisable voice of his generation. Its rare when a young UK born artist at the age of 19 has a god given talent to compose and sing his own songs. Therefore, with the image and flair of vocals, Bobby Kang is believed as the future of Bhangra.

Bobby Kang was born Parminderjit Singh Kang in Walsall, West Midlands. He is the youngest of four siblings. From the tender age of four Bobby was encouraged by his Father and older Brother to start performing at family functions, after being inspired by the likes of Surjit Bindrakhia , A.S Kang and Surinder Shinda.

In 2005, Bobby took upon the opportunity to be taught by the legendary music director Baldev Singh Mastana Ji, who developed his vocal range and knowledge of music. However, at the same time Bobby was keen on joining a live band, which is when he was introduced to the renowned “King Of Bhangra” Malkit Singh MBE, and joined his band as a backing vocalist in 2006.

Bobby has released  his debut single “Sang Lagdi” on 19 August 2010. The single has been produced by the mega hit producer Jeeti, and the lyrics by the internationally acclaimed Tari Banwalipuria.

The Teenager looks set to redefine the UK Punjabi music rulebook. As 2010 will be the beginning of the journey for Bobby Kang as Malkit Singh and his 25 years of experience is being past down to Bobby.

Keertan Dave,well known as Dav-eh,a Musician,DJ,Dancer,Actor and Model has recently been setting a new name in the Desi Urban industry. Recently proclaimed as “The Youngest Desi Urban Artist In Canada”,Dav-eh has been touching the hearts of many with his musical talent. Manificent, an up and coming singer from New York , has always had a passion for music. Specializing in the harmonium (piano) as a young student in Chandigarh(india) , he fell in love with music, and quickly added singing to his repertoire. He spent many hours soaking up the diverse music that is so common to Punjab- music that would become the basis for his own style.

At the age of 18, while living in the US, Manificent threw himself into music full time. He put in four years of dedication to improve his vocals and his musical talent, while he perfected a genre he had invented for himself- a mix of his Punjabi heritage and the Hip-Hop/ R&B rhythms of his new homeland. Then, at the age of 23, while looking for someone who could help him get his music career really moving, he stumbled upon Sunny Brown, a producer and singer in Toronto. Sunny Brown was really impressed by Manificent’s dedication and creativity. He saw a great raw talent in him. Bringing him to Toronto, Sunny Brown helped him get started on his first recorded single. The result, a traditional Punjabi song with western influences weaved in, proved that duo had great chemistry. In collaboration with Sunny Brown, Manificent, the musician had been born.

With inspirations as diverse as Nusrat fateh ali khan, Surjit Bindrakhia, Timbaland, and Usher, Manificent’s aim is to mix genres and create new sounds in a way that enhances his music. “I don’t want to be confined to one type of music,” he says. “I like to experiment and take risks. And watch those risks pay off.”

While him and Sunny Brown are working on a full length debut album. Look for this inspired musician to make strides in the music world in North America, the UK and Asia.

Blitzkrieg is back and ready to brew up yet another storm in the UK Desi scene. The Canadian based rapper has been busy in the studio adding final touches to the long awaited follow up of his hugely successful debut album ‘Rhyme Book’.

Blitz has been busier than ever collaborating with artists such as Juddy D, Navin Kundra, Tigerstyle and fellow Canadian rapper, Roach Killa. The fantastic new album titled “GET BLITZ” is due to be released later this year (September).

Kiss ‘Chumma’ is the first track to be taken from the album, featuring the breathtaking Bollywood music producers, RDB (Singh is King).

With the Hindi lyrics written by the talented Parichay, the track employs the rapid flow and distinct voice of Blitz and is guaranteed to have the dance floor packed!

Due to grace us with his presence in the UK, Blitz prepares to enjoy the British summer as he performs at melas up and down the country (Southhamoton , Reading, Manchester, East London, Central London).

NORTHERN LIGHTS “RE-LIT”

Born in December 1980 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England with what seemed like a mic in one hand and an old-skool Kuldip Manak vinyl in the other, Tarvinder Singh Nijjar (Tarv), aka Northern Lights, had a passion for desi music from an early age. His love affair with his father’s old Punjabi record collection led him to discover the likes of Chamkila, Shinda, Mohd. Saddiq, Rafi and Luhaar at an age where other kids were still deciding which Action Man they wanted !

At the age of twelve he moved to Scotland but continued his passion for music by starting to learn how to DJ with western music in small venues. His musical tastes were now being influenced by his surrounds as he moved onto the likes of NWA and New Jack Swing. After starting Uni at 19, Tarv soon started learning how to improve on his Djing skills and started appearing at various underground events throughout Scotland with a sound that set him apart from the rest. He burst onto the main DJ circuit in Scotland in January 2003 after launching a radio show on Radio Awaz called Urban Fusion. Since then he has featured at many events included hosting the official Glasgow Mela 2004 and performing at the BRAMA’s club tour in October 2004.

In 2005, his DJ collective called Northern Lights released their debut album ‘Sparked’ on VIP Records. The album was a success story instantly featuring anthems such as ‘Janaab’ (Tanveer Gogi), ‘Wrong Number’ (Fauji Rajpuri) and ‘Aashiq Dig Dig’ (Kaka Bhainiawala).The album also gained prominence in India when it released on Saregama in 2007. By 2008, Northern Lights were amongst the nominees for the ‘Best NRI Producer’ at the prestigious ETC Alpha Punjabi Music Awards.

Since making his name on the British Asian dance scene, the expat Black Country man has amassed a distinctly stylish number of underground hits including his contribution to the compilation ‘Drop’ (Liquid Records) in 2007, which featured his hit track ‘Nain Preeto Deh.’

Tarv has also had the honour of standing in for Adil Ray on his BBC Asian Network show as well as continuing to get people through the traffic on his own Drivetime show on DAB station Asian FX. Earlier this year, Northern Lights produced the desi remix of Mumzy’s ‘Showgirl,’ which saw high rotation on the BBC Asian Network ‘A’ Play List.

October 2009 – London (UK)

Northern Lights have signed up a five-album recording and management deal with the new UK-based independent record label ‘Organised Rhyme’ by label head Saty Gill. The forthcoming album ‘Re-Lit’ will feature top Punjabi vocalists such as Master Saleem (‘Ik Vaari Haa, ‘Dhol Jageero Da’), Ashok Gill (‘Main Ho Gaya Sharabi’), the late Kaka Bhainiawala (‘Jawani’, ‘Daaru Pee Ke’), Labh Janjua (‘Mundian To Bach Ke’, ‘Soni De Nakre’), Lehmber Hussainpuri (‘Ah Ni Kuria’, ‘Das Ja’), Bobby Maan (Gurdas Maan’s Protege) and more.

Watch out for club anthems such as ‘Put Jattan Da Bounce’, ‘Nakreh’ and ‘Akhan De Ishareh’ accompanied by classic anthems ‘Ishqeh Da Tumba’ (written by Gurdas Maan) and ‘Aashiq Bethe Neh’- in fact, there are so many hot tracks on this album you should be prepared to get ‘Re-Lit!’

With a total of 12 tracks plus 4 remixes jacking up the play list (including remixes of ‘Janaab’ and ‘Wrong Number’ from the debut album’ Sparked’), the album boasts club bangers and evergreen flavours that showcase Northern Lights talent as a world class artist and producer.

Empire One Music presents “Extended Play: Djs Inc”.

Djs Inc are back after a few months with their follow up EP – Extended Play. After releasing “A New Age” with the hits Na Roko featuring, Surinder Shinda, and Nachle Soniye, featuring Kaka Bhainiwala, the E.P continues with established singers, Mohinder Kaur & Charanjit Bawa with Anjuman Hussainpuri.

Peeniya:

Peeniya is sung by Anjuman Hussainpuri who originally appeared on “Death Jamm 2004” with the hit “Boliyan” alongside Lehmber Hussainpuri, produced by Sound Ministry.

This time alongside DJs Inc, they together have fused traditional bhangra, with heavy basslines, and upbeat music. The track is slightly controversial, being a female talking about drinking, and also commenting on Lehmber Hussainpuri’s wedding.

Nevertheless it’s still a traditional raw Bhangra track!
