British Asian singer presents her highly anticipated debut single ’Tere Bina’

in support of the fight against domestic violence

British Asian singer, Avina Shah, prepares for the release of her eagerly awaited debut single ‘Tere Bina’ (Without You) to raise awareness on the delicate issue of domestic violence. Featuring a unique combination of Avina’s angelic vocals with heart-touching lyrics and a super-catchy chorus, the proceeds from the single will be donated to West London based charity the Southall Black Sisters (SBS).

Despite the fact that 1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime, many of these on a number of occasions, it is still largely a hidden crime. Those who have experienced abuse from a partner or ex-partner will often try to keep it from families, friends, or authorities.  For those woman that do try to escape, the consequences can be fatal and on average, 2 women a week are killed by a current or former male partner.

Inspired by the story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, featured in the hit movie ‘Provoked’ starring Aishwarya Rai, Avina decided she wanted to create a song with the aim in raising awareness of this injustice. The SBS Charity, also featured in the movie, came to hear of Avina’s forthcoming release and were delighted to come on board and offer their support for the single. Shakila Maan, Advocacy Manager for SBS says, ‘we were very moved and impressed with Avina and the team when we heard ‘Tere Bina’. We are delighted they have chosen SBS as the official charity for this single in recognising the issue of domestic violence in minority communities. This also comes at a good time, due to the recent government cuts, the need for funding is particularly important to keep the charity in full swing’.

Naturally gifted Avina has been performing since she was just three years old. Having written a number of original songs, ‘Tere Bina’ is her very first release and is hailed to make a clear mark on the UK Asian music scene. Featuring a creative blend of eastern and western musical styles, the song will not only entertain music lovers but also empower listeners who can relate to the emotive meaning behind the song.

“Tere Bina is a positive song all about girl power! It tells the story of a young woman who finally decides to walk away from a really violent and abusive relationship. The lyrics are in Hindi but the music has a very western feel, which I think will appeal to listeners that like to hear something a bit different but with a conscience. People think that domestic violence is a thing of the past, but it’s shocking to discover how common this problem actually is still today. We’ve put a lot of thought in trying to capture all of these emotions into the song itself aswell as the music video.” says Avina.

Hardworking, dedicated and motivated, Avina performs in both English and Hindi and has recorded both here and in India to equal acclaim. A petite bundle of glamour and ambition, Avina has been regularly performing worldwide with the group Eastern Illusion in locations such as Africa, America, The Middle East, and various countries within Europe. Having shared the stage with numerous international artists, Avina is now ready to kick-start her music project this year with her eagerly awaited debut single ‘Tere Bina’. Multi talented producer, singer and songwriter Kader first came to public attention as part of the grime and funky production duo ‘Hypnotiks’.

With his partner Leon Vandal [SMI], they produced beats and videos for notable UK artists Mike GLC, Donaeo, Corey Johnson, Faro, Lefty and G-Fresh. Their production for Crey Mey’s “Bubblegum, which also featured Kader, went on to be a major street hit with heavy rotation on Channel AKA.

He has decided to move on a solo career to focus on a new musical direction reflecting his original r&b roots. The result is a highly impressive debut release with his self written and produced single ‘Eyes’.

While busy with studio production, Kader is also keen to showcase his all round talent in the best traditions of R&B.  Expect to see a number of live dates announced in the coming months as he also continues to write his new album.

The single ‘Eyes’ draws on the flavas of late 90’s R&B but brings it up to 2010. Kader’s influences are evident here, leaning on the styles of Teddy Riley, Timbaland and The Neptunes but adding his own unique contemporary twist. The radio edit is a stripped down R&B production with a laid back vocal and an enslaving chorus. The single’s a slick and well written production with a smooth vocal delivery that hits the mark.

Kader describes his sound and says

“I like to produce something new and different, mixed with the old skool 90′s R&B sound but with a slightly more abstract, edgy and eclectic style. It’s distinctive but infectious, I have a definite vision of how I want to develop this, I take from the old to produce something totally fresh”

With his debut solo album releasing on his own Beat Academy Entertainment label in the works for 2011, this first offering gives notice of a remarkable talent and promise of things to come. The package is complete with Grime and Funky mixes by Kader himself while London’s DJ Mappa chips in with a massive wall of electronica that completes an exceptional record.

Kader’s knowledge and passion for music, his dedication and outstanding ability all combine to ensure he’ll be one of London’s biggest discoveries for many years, beginning now with the single ‘Eyes’.

Vishal, a multi-talented artist capable of delivering a diverse sound.  An equally talented singer, song writer and producer, Vishal is a self taught musician, who is set to release his debut single ‘Majajne’ in summer 2010.

With the summer in full flow, Vishal teams up with vibrant producer ‘Dappa’ who laces an infectious beat combined with thundering bass drops, giving Majajne a real summer feel. The addition of Emcee B adds another dimension to the single with the addition of a catchy verse.

Earlier this year, Vishal released ‘Speaker’ a reproduced folk song which gained airplay across the UK along with recording almost 10,000 free downloads online. Having successfully showcased his production ability with Speaker, it’s now time for Vishal to launch his singing debut.

Vishal explains his thoughts on his debut single;

“Most of the Punjabi songs these days follow the same pattern, have the same kinda music, dhol, tumbi, etc. and majority of them sounds the same. I wanted to make a unique love song with different melody for each verse and I kept that in my mind when I first sat down to write this song. ”

‘Majajne’ has been supported by a high quality video; shot on location in London will be airing on TV channels in due course.

Vishal’s ‘Majajne’ is set for a release on iTunes and other digital platforms on July 29^th.
